Busted...again!!

Gotta love piracy. You think that piracy is great in the South East Asian region. Wait until you come over here man. It’s even better. Back home you have to pay for your pirated VCDs or DVDs. Here it’s free. Just need a fast internet connection. But of course with the introduction of broadband back home, it’s getting just as good.

I was told by my cousin that his church got their members to officially boycott pirated goods. Well, duh, it’s illegal. But there was more to it than just for the reason of being a law-abiding citizen. Many of us don’t take the time to think about it, but there are many other vices that are linked to piracy. Street gangs, drug lords, pimps and other criminals use piracy as another form of income to support their activities. So every time you buy an illegal copy of a movie or music CD, you’re actually funding other forms of illegal activity.

Anyway, the reason why I’m talking about this is because I just got my third email warning from a movie production company. This was the first time I got one from Columbia. The past two were from Universal. Well, had been almost a year since I got my last one. So this one was quite a bummer.

So friends beware… bittorrent isn’t as safe as you think it is. The best way to stay clear from getting tagged by these companies is to download older movies which have already had their DVD versions released. I used to think that screeners were safe. Apparently not. So from now on, until I get a new IP address or move out, I will have to be an internet saint.
