More Useless Entertainment

About a week ago, I downloaded four seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I heard a lot about it and how it was rated pretty highly among critics. That’s why I decided to take a look at see what all the fuss was about.

Curb your enthusiasm is a comedy-reality sort of show revolving around Larry David, the co-creator of the Seinfeld series. It’s a sort of a scripted reality show because he plays himself going through his every day life. The element of comedy comes in when he gets into all kinds of predicaments throughout each 40 minute show. Another plus of this series is that there are many cameo appearances by other stars playing themselves like Shaq, Richard Lewis, Wanda Sykes and Ted Danson.

I started with the one-hour pilot which was rather boring. Quite a letdown. But I decided to try the second show and it’s interesting how the shows got better and better. Maybe it was a matter of adjusting to the sort of humor used in the show.

I guess the thing that makes Larry David such an interesting character, is that he’s this balding upper-middle aged oddball who always thinks he’s right. He’s married to this woman who looks half his age, and you cant help but wonder how they stay married because they seem like two absolutely incompatible people.

I just finished season two and am moving on to season three. It’s a great way to entertain myself while having dinner.
