Giant Ape?

(no spell check used so please dont mind my errs)

I dont know what possessed me last night but out of a total whim, I rented the 1933 version of King Kong. For those of you who arent aware of it, the 1933 version is the one that started it all. The original King Kong. Then there was another knockoff in the 1970's or 80's but reviews say that it stunk.

Anyway, the movie was rather entertaining I must admit. Presented in "glorious black and white!" screamed the DVD cover. I guess the whole novelty of watching a movie made that long ago caused me to forgive them of the totally static acting and laugh-out-loud excuses of special effects. But hey, at that time PC's didnt even exist. So forget about CGI. It was purely through clever optical illusion that they managed to merge stop-motion animation with human acting.

I really wanted to watch Peter Jackson's version which was released about 2 months ago, but my movie kaki wasnt interested. I guess I'll just wait another 3-4 months and rent the DVD. Sadly, I dont think the movie really lived up to all that it was made up to be. Thanks to all that media hype. But I am looking forward to the 2005 version of the T-Rex vs. Kong confrontation. The orignal was nothing short of comical.

amazingly, i've heard that stores that used to carry the old version are all now out of stock. looks like it really is experiencing a mini surge-revival
