Wrapping Things Up
My time in the United States is almost up. I’m not exactly the happiest person in this regard. But I believe that my being forced to leave is a consequence of greed and naivety when I was younger. But if it were not for my great blessing, I wouldn’t have been here in the first place. So I guess it isn’t that bad.
It’s really the end of a 4-year vacation for me. Ok, I was paid to study in the process. But it was a vacation in the sense that I got to live away from home and spent a significant of time being immersed in a different culture. It wasn’t all fun and games, but looking back it’s probably been the most exciting time of my life so far.
So the working world beckons. I’m being sucked into the conformity of wearing decent clothes on an almost daily basis, navigating traffic jams both before and after work, and the scariest thing of all, working for THE MAN.
My glimpse of the working world came in the form of an internship with the company that we shall call “M”. It was a wonderful experience, but I am tempted to believe that everyone was nice because I was new, young, and maybe, just maybe, knew someone who knew someone. So in the future working for the BIG GREEN, things might not be so rosy anymore.
I’m in the midst of selling my stuff; parting with the material things that played such an important role in my life. Here’s my tribute to my dearly (or soon to be) departed:
1) My leather chair: You cradled my ol’ behind like no other.
2) My desktop PC: You lacked memory, but thanks for the memories
3) My car: You chariot of fire! My beloved el’ Diablo. I shall miss thee.
4) My apartment: You dungeon of comfort and shelter! My escape from the classroom!
5) My workplace: You free-money, fortnightly-ATM, homework room! You rock!
6) My non-stick pan: You gave me hot horrible tasting food to survive. Why couldnt you stay scratch-free?
I’ve got another month to give Ann Arbor a proper goodbye. But before that, I’ll be leaving for a vacation down in the Southwest. Should be fun. Until my next update…
